Lucifer is such a joke now

I was rewatching "Hammer of the Gods" earlier and it's shocking how scary and intimidating Lucifer used to be. This guy enters a room and he has actual Gods shitting their pants in fear of him (and for good reason) and he kills a fellow Arc-Angel like it's nothing.

And now Lucifer has been reduced to a pussy. A joke. They kind of ruined him in Season 7 when he became a petty nuisance who bothered Sam as an imaginary friend. But last season, where he hides in Sam's room and blasts music and pouts like a baby because he's angry at Chuck/God/Daddy. That was it. That killed any seriousness the character had left.

It's hard for me to buy THE Devil, the Prince of Darkness, the King of Evil as a serious Big Bad at this point. They fucked him up that bad.

The scene where Casifer locks himself in Sam's room is also the scene that completely ruined Lucifer for me.
He's lost his edge but I suppose I'm glad that, if we still have to deal with him, it's going to be in the form of Mark Pellegrino. Small favors... :)

When it comes to his power, Lucifer mentioned the nephilim as a possible vessel a while ago. Maybe he'll cannibalize his heir for power now that Crowley has crippled him? Or maybe he'll care about him too much to hurt him? I have no idea where this story is going lol.

I agree with what both of you have said, but I'm not even sure that Luicfer being played by Mark will do much of anything for me. Remember that Misha was basing Casifer off of how Mark advised him to play Lucifer, so I'm thinking Mark tends to think the imaginary Lucifer in Sam's head from season 7 is the real Lucifer as that's the way he played him most recently. Ah, but Lucifer in season 5 was fantastic. Le sigh.

Mark to me is wasted because he is such a strong, visual appealing actor to watch. He knows how to get the most out of the camera, and how to act. Petty squabbles with God are childish and thus makes him look immature when we know he's not. He is a strong Archangel with incredible power behind him. Yet is single-handedly torn down by a once was Crossroads Demon.

It's hard to believe how a character can be bought down and its a shame. Maybe it is the force of the baby that's keeping him going. Something on the outside keeping him strong within. Once that baby is born, I dread to think what will happen to Lucifer power wise. Crowley had better watch his steps...

The writers don't know how to let a character breath. They feel it may be retreating and so make him a teenager with daddy issues. They should realize that he's Satan who is the true personification of evil.

I know at the other board they were all women who only watched because they were attracted to the brothers. But I've watched since 2009 when i got season 1 for Christmas and been a fan since. I love the atmosphere, the characters, music and stories. I would post more but it seems like most talk about the current seasons. My knowledge only goes up to season 8 and I only saw season nine once.

I like to get back into the show. I guess season nine got me out of it, but may be ill like season ten

Season 9 was a chore for me too. There was a decent set up for Season 9 with the angels falling, but they didn't adequately follow through on it. That season is the reason I think angels are now a joke, and the way they destroyed reapers really annoyed me. The manufactured angst was ridiculous, and I think the 'on the nose' parallels in Thinman were embarrassing to watch. Yes, season 9 gave us the MoC, but there was so many things about season 9 that I didn't like that not even the MoC could make up for them.

I loved Season 9 and was such an up from S8 which as many know I still find hard to watch. S9 was amazing when you start to watch the boys bounce off one another with Gadreel inside Sam and Sam not knowing anything about it and Dean trying to keep it all together without letting anything slip. Jared's acting when he bounced out of Gadreel and back to Sam was just pure awsome. His expressions were priceless and you never knew what you were going to get next. Especially when Sam began to realise in the car he'd missed some miles, had he fallen asleep? We lost Kevin and others and it had some really strong episodes I am a fan of S9. I loved S10 and S11 but some episodes in S11 were a bit weaker than others.

There were some problems with seasons 10 and 11, but for me, there was a lot that I liked about season 10 (there were some really good episodes), and I think with S11 that the overall myth arc was weak, but I liked a lot of the MotW episodes. Just wish they hadn't brought Lucifer back and had done something creative with the Darkness instead of giving us what they did.
