How people could enjoy this I will never know

This is by far the most terribly made comicbook movie I've ever seen. Its horrible beyond believe. Its the most terribly directed, shot, edited and written FILM I have seen in a long time. I hate this movie and the people who gave this a very positive review....How could you do this? Even the new fantastic four movie looks better, even Batman and Robin is fun to watch simply because how absurd this is. This movie however is just a trainwreck. Holy *beep* Its unwatchable at times. 150 million dollars and it shows in no scene whatsoever, the CGI is abysmal, its some of the worst in any blockbuster film probably EVER. The Gambit and Wolverine fight is terribly shot, it looks like a direct to dvd-late Van Damme- action scene from someone who just discovered Windows Movie Maker and Photoshop. That ladder scene makes my blood boil. And the idiots who watched it and said, yep, were going with that shot, that looks fine.- What?! ARE YOU *beep* KIDDING???

And those *beep* fight scenes were they jump around on these obvious wires....why? Its so bad, so,so, sooooo bad! Its sad given the talent involved. I don't have a problem with filmmakers changing the characters like Deadpool if its done well, but in no way whatsoever is it done well. Its just another horribly made action scene with ridiculous cheap looking CGI.

So in other words, I hate this movie with a passion. And if you like it....why? You are a human being, right? You do have a brain? You do recognize bad filmmaking when its so blatantly obvious. So how can people enjoy this?

Agreed. This movie's direction is absolutely terrible. That alone made this movie look cheaper than it's budget.

I just watched this for the first time and yea it was pretty rough; the fight scenes were so campy it felt like I was watching a B movie. It's a shame you because Hugh Jackman, I feel, is awesome as Wolverine.

Also Will.I.am's southern accent is *beep* atrocious.

Fant4stic?!?!? Anyone........

I enjoyed it as terrible as it is.

For someone who is NOT a major superhero movie fan , I thought this movie was actually a good one. The tale was credible and the humanity of the characters ( except for the meager explanation of why Victor was so different from his blood brother Jimmy) was well-explained. From a performance viewpoint, the acting was very good overall ( you can see how some of the actors have strong acting chops and experience - such as Liev and Hugh who both have dramatic movies and stage plays in their resumes). I can understand the resentment on the treatment of some of the characters based on their comic book origins, but in the context of this film, I thought they were well-developed. Ryan was a fast-talking and annoying ( to Victor) character but he also stood out and that katana-wielding sequence was very exciting. Weapon XI was NOT yet ready, but had to be rushed to fight the brothers - hence we got a villain that did not meet comic book fans's expectations. The fight sequence on top of the nuclear plant tower was spectacular. Maybe Gambit did not personify what was expected of the character but his role in the film had a reason.

This movie was not for comicbook fans's appreciation alone - it also appeals to the general movie-going public who like action movies with a dramatic tale in it.

I will not disagree with what many have expressed as their negative views of the movie, but I wanted to express my differing impressions 

To each his own.

They chose Pscar winning director who directed a small drama from Soth Africa...sometimes Oscar win does not mean you can put the winner into every genre...

But watching it right now after looooong time...I actually enjoy it...Hugh Jackman gives strong performance...he IS Wolverine I love him...

I like the beginning titles...
Chemistry between Hugh and Liev is very good....

but otherwise it´s mediocre film...

And yes the effects look very funny but they looked like that at the time of release too :D

Otherwise I think it is not a BAD movie
there LOT WORSE :D
Sequels is great though

Worst ever? Come on, Fant4stic, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, Superman III and IV, and Catwoman, just to name a few are much worse IMO.

I found this pretty enjoyable until after the Weapon X experiment and Wolverine shows up on the "Kent" farm. It was all down hill from there. That later part contained the worst of the CGI too and badly directed action scenes (Jackman walking away from the exploding helicopter is something from a comedy sketch action parody skit, it's so bad). Gambit and Cyclops and Wolverine's CGI were atrocious, yes. However, it's worth noting that this was primarily funded by Hugh Jackman's production company and didn't receive much from Fox. Hence, the crappy CGI.

I liked Sabertooth and the opening, esp. the War montage, but also the mercs attack on the African. I'd say up until after the campfire scene the movie was very enjoyable.

The movies you named, while terrible, have some of that camp factor which makes them somehow enjoyable. Except Catwoman which is for me on the same level of atrocious filmmaking, just like X-Men Wolverine.

Of course, the movie is not 100% bad, but the fact that it tries to come across as a serious film, just makes the whole thing worse. The injected drama is not campy, its just boring and cliched. The whole movie feels like a cash grab which is the worst kind of feeling a film can create.
At leas the Schulmacher Batman films had something going for them. The set design is goofy but its out there and its original (to some extent), the cinematography for Batman Forever even received an Oscar nomination. So you can tell, there was work and passion put into it.

But this? Apart from Jackmann and a 2 minute war montage which was kinda visually interesting, this movie gave me nothing! Zero! Nada!

But hey, as someone said above, opinions, right?
