We went to see the movie. I think it was a good flim. Jennifer Lopez should get an oscar. She was great as puchi. As everybody like to say negative things about her. As she stated in the movie, it is her story of Hector and nobody else.

Honestly, I can't stand JLo or Marc Anthony for that matter either, but that doesn't mean I don't respect some of their work... This movie I feel was excellent. Not just the story, but the music was incredible as well. Is their a soundtrack or something?? The acting was superbly done, and I am also going to have to dig a little deeper into the actual life of Hector Lavoe...
I agree. I actually saw the movie twice because I thought it was well made, well edited and JLo did a good acting job. And of course the music is great! It gave a story about one of salsa's greats, made my laugh and made me sad. The emotional mood swings of the marriage and the drug addiction are translated very well on the silver screen.
Just for the record: I am no particular fan of either Marc or JLO, nor am I a JLo hater. Just thought that both did a decent acting job in this one.
I thought it was ok. Mark Anthony did a pretty good job I would think even though i didn't know alot of Hector Lavoe, just stories i hear from my parents and some documentaries. Being Puerto Rican he's like our Elvis. Good music and good music history. My biggest problem with this movie is that i wanted to learn more about Hector and not so much Puchie. J lo i think did a decent job but you can just tell she was trying to get herself an oscar nomination. This was about her. So she put herself in every scene and made sure she was very over dramatic and even had herself aging for the interview scenes. Half hour in i realized this and turn to my friend and said "j lo made this movie about her". So it kinda turned me off. I kept waiting to have scenes without her but there she was almost every time. Im not a fan of hers but I dont hate her. I give her a chance in the one or two movies i see with her every five years.lol. Selena was good. I actually enjoyed Monster in law and enough. If she would of went for like a supporting actress nod and cut herself out a few scenes instead of trying to steal the show she actually might of gotten it. I like Mark Anthony alot i think he's very talented singer and actor. He shouldnt have let his wife run him in this movie. Just my opinion. Peace.
