I have season 1 but...

I know how this show aired in the wrong order. Not so sure if I should watch it or not. Help me out here.

First things first, did you watch Chapters 1-21 of the 2D Clone Wars cartoon? That sets up a bit of groundwork like introducing Ventress and Grevious, not to mention Anakin's transition to Jedi Knight. As for the 3D series, the order is very jumbled before the second half of Season 3. Basically, the official chronological order goes...

Season 2 Ep 16
Season 1 Ep 16
The Clone Wars feature (not included on any of the season releases)
Season 3 Ep 1
Season 3 Ep 3
Season 1 Eps 1-5
Season 3 Ep 2
Season 1 Eps 6-15
Season 1 Eps 17-21

Season 2 Eps 1-3
Season 2 Eps 17-19
Season 2 Eps 4-14
Season 2 Eps 20-22

Season 3 Eps 5-7
Season 3 Ep 4
Season 3 Ep 8
Season 1 Ep 22
Season 3 Eps 9-11
Season 2 Ep 15

Really, as crazy as that looks, that is the proper chronological order for Seasons 1-2 and the first half of 3. Luckily once you're at the second half of Season 3,, from Ep 12 onward, things are finally in order. An ep of Season 5 was aired out of order, but the DVD/Blu-Ray release has that specific one properly placed so there's no issue there. Make sure to watch the 13 "Lost Episodes" after Season 5, which many think of as Clone Wars Season 6, then I suggest finishing up with Chapters 22-25 of the 2D cartoon.

While it is preferable to watch it in the right order, you can enjoy it in production order as well. You just get some odd moments when you realize you are watching a prequel to a previous episode. I didn't know about the different order when I first saw the show, and I definitely had those odd moments, but I still enjoyed the show.

It would be kind of hard to get watch the proper order with just season 1, as you can see with the previous post, but just go for it and enjoy. Besides, after watching it in production order, it is kind of fun to go back and watch it in chronological order.

I didn't enjoy it in airing order. I was often confused and had some wtf moments. Was so annoying to have a episode from season 1 in season 3 resolving what was left open in season 1 and vice versa.

It's a must to watch it in the chronological order and avoid the airing order.

Wish that fk up was fixed for the blu ray release.

I fixed a placing issue for Season 3's second episode as its central plot works as a direct sequal to Season 1 Ep 5, dunno how the chronological order missed that but oh well. Yeah if your wish is to follow Clone Wars chronologically, you should have at least Seasons 1-3 and the feature. Season 2 Ep 16 and Season 1 Ep 16 don't work too well as pilot material or an introductory story, not like the feature does, but they do lead toward that.

I watched the show in chronological order, which probably isn't absolutely necessary, but I would recommend it. Star Wars.com has the entire series in order here: http://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-the-clone-wars-chronological-episodeorder?repeat=w3tc

It's interesting to see the viewing order there... As someone who's not got around to buying/watching beyond the film and season 1 yet, I wanted to ask a couple of questions...

I'm a big Star Wars fan, but knowing these got canned mid way through season 6, I wanted to know from fans how good the closure is? Do the stories wrap up reasonably with 'The Lost Missions'? Does Ahsoka's story have a conclusion or is it left hanging?

As someone thoroughly disappointed in TFA, I want to finally get round to watching these true Star Wars stories (looking at buying the box set/s and Lost Missions in the next month or so), but it'll be so frustrating to watch them all and be left hanging. How do fans feel about the ending? I just want to know whether to expect them to suddenly 'end', or whether things feel finished (even if imperfectly)?

I'll be buying and watching them even if things aren't ended properly, but if I know one way or the other, at least I won't be screaming "Nooooooooooo!" ;-)

The show itself wraps up fairly well with The Lost Missions (if that refers to season 6). There are still some threads, though some stories continue elsewhere. There are unfinished episodes on StarWars.com. At least one book. Don't know what else.

Ahsoka. I would say, yes, her story has an ending. Others would disagree.

Thanks, Meushell, that's good to know. :-) I was thinking of the Lost Missions as Season 6 (even though I know it's not as many episodes as a normal full season). If the main stories are reasonably wrapped up, and Ahsoka gets somewhat of a conclusion, then I'll be happy! :-)

While it will be interesting to see the unfinished episodes, it's nice to know that the series is ended decently with proper finished episodes.

BTW, if you are interested in Rebels, watch Clones first.

Damn, this show is out of order too? Why is Star Wars always doing this making it hard on us. Almost halfway through season 1 though... What should I do? Never seen past this In the series.
