why didn't Encarnacion and Nacho make out in the end?

That would have made it so much cooler. I was hoping that after he (spoiler alert) won the match against Ramses, they would.

Personally, I'm glad that he didn't compromise her chosen lifestyle by making out with her.

This is essentially a kids' movie, although I loved it. There is no swearing, there's an orphanage, it has a happy kids ending, and there is a basic moral of the story.

You can't teach kids that you can break Catholic Church vows and vocations.

I'm not a religious freak or anything, but this movie can't afford to be that controversial.

But it's obvious in the end of the film that they have or are going to given their flirtatious looks to each other.

It was funnier that they didn't. Ignacio does all of that...and all he gets is a lousy thumbs up lol The kids don't want to see it, and it opens up a big can of worms just as the movie is supposed to end.

At the end, when Nacho and Encarnacion stands on the steps, she gave him the thumbs up. Nacho looks as if he's giving off a cheesey smile.

I don't think he was smiling, he was grimacing because he knew he cannot tell her he's in love in her and she would not give up her vocation.

So the ending might be slightly downbeat. I could be wrong.

That's definitely how I saw it.

It was cool, though. So many movies wrap up with "happily ever after".

Love is great but it doesn't solve everything. People still need to deal with their problems regardless of their relationship status.

And audiophilesubs is right, the misdirection was totally funny.

I preferred that they didn't. This movie maintains a rather sweet innocence throughout and that would have spoiled it. Many of the characters in his movies are like kids in grown up bodies so the end was very fitting.

I got the impression he was able to tell her that he likes her and if they were not both Celibate he would like to have a family with her. So they will not be anything more than friends.
