That's what I thought. The first film made sense and really worked, but this one didn't. At the end he knew exactly what was going to happen with the car accident, so why didn't he just decide not to go back to work? He saw what he was going to become if he became successful at the job and that's not the life that he wanted. He also saw what would happen with his relationship when she stayed there for him and he didn't become successful. So why didn't he decide to leave his job and follow her to New York to become an artist? They would have avoided the car accident and not lost the baby. I know that's not the point of the butterfly effect, however killing himself at the end just seemed so stupid. For all he knew she could have ended up in a bad way as a single mother trying to earn a living and supporting their child.
In BE1 every jump he made just made things worse for the people around him. Whereas in the sequel the guy was just greedy. He could have had a good life with his girlfriend, but then he wasn't satisfied with his career, she wouldn't have just left him because of his failure. He didn't know about the miscarriage at all at this stage so it was all just because of his job.
I really didn't like this film and I was shocked at how short it was, the ending seemed so sudden I couldn't believe it was over.
