I don't get why... (spoilers)

...he decided to break up with her at the end. Also when he died in the car it seemed like it was unplanned but after you saw the car go over you heard him saying "you know I would do anything for you guys" which made it sound like he thought killing himself would make it all better or something.

Oh and another thing. Did anyone else think he looked so much like Ben Affleck in this movie??

I think he broke up with her in the end to save her from anything bad that would happen to her because of him (Kind of like Ashton Kutcher did for Amy Smart in the first one) And yeah, you're right, I think he purposefully killed himself for the same reason.

It was a rehash of the first movie. He had to ditch her in order for her to get on with her life.

Of course then they had to leave it open at the end with their kid.... Who's probably going to go back and save his father some how when he gets older.

oh dear god no

But how did he come to know that by breaking up with her would then save her? In fact, if I were him, I would have anticipated that it would kill her more readily because once she feels upset about it, she can do anything drastic (like what is shown in the movie).

That's what I thought. The first film made sense and really worked, but this one didn't. At the end he knew exactly what was going to happen with the car accident, so why didn't he just decide not to go back to work? He saw what he was going to become if he became successful at the job and that's not the life that he wanted. He also saw what would happen with his relationship when she stayed there for him and he didn't become successful. So why didn't he decide to leave his job and follow her to New York to become an artist? They would have avoided the car accident and not lost the baby. I know that's not the point of the butterfly effect, however killing himself at the end just seemed so stupid. For all he knew she could have ended up in a bad way as a single mother trying to earn a living and supporting their child.

In BE1 every jump he made just made things worse for the people around him. Whereas in the sequel the guy was just greedy. He could have had a good life with his girlfriend, but then he wasn't satisfied with his career, she wouldn't have just left him because of his failure. He didn't know about the miscarriage at all at this stage so it was all just because of his job.

I really didn't like this film and I was shocked at how short it was, the ending seemed so sudden I couldn't believe it was over.

acosean he gets re-encarnated into his sons body.

reply

hmm yeah was bit like that cos why else would the baby get that blury thing when he looked in to a photo... a photo thats not of his memory. why would he get re-encarnated tho or how? (i dont mean seriously how cos its just a story but u know) Unless the blurry thing the baby got was just to make u think could be a sequal, duno.

No one gets why, because there is no real reason, unless you've seen the first movie and simply assume the same goes for the new guy.

The ending came very suddenly, and the movie had hardly even started. The ending was not at all motivated and left me unsatisfied and angry - even moreso because I thought the movie up until that point had been above expectations (low expectations, but still...)

It's like they did 65% of a movie and then ran out of money, so they just decided to wrap it up and go home.

And yes, I think he looks a lot like Ben Affleck... I was actually thinking about that the entire time when I watched it. I don't know if that's good or bad - I don't really care for Affleck.

I found the whole film a real disappointment, considering all the alternative life possibilities the lead could have had the ones chosen in this movie were pretty boring (unlike the original Butterfly Effect).

I thought he looked alot like Devon Sawa. I felt like I was watching Final Destination most of the time.
