Hopefully not. I have never seen a more wooden actor as Kutcher was in BE1. His expression never changed, even when he realized he had caused his girlfriend to become an HIV-infected crack whore, it was just same old wooden happy-go-lucky Ashton. He should stick to sit-coms. Too bad because I really liked everything else about the first one.

the other 4 endings he stays alive.
There were 2 versions of the ending.
In one he killed himself in the womb, in the other he was mean to Amy Smart when they were kids so they didn't become friends, and I guess she and her brother ended up living with their mother.

sharehmm...i really would hope so...that would be so awesome...he could like decide that his life without Kayleigh is too much to bare...and wants her back...so he tries one more time or something...that wouldnt be bad...they could also allude to the 2nd one and mention how that crap was related to this one and kinda try to cancel it out...lol...this is my favorite movie of all time...and it really pissed me off the first time i saw the trailer for part 2 and saw that it ended with "coming soon to DVD" ahhh...i hated it...i havent seen 2 yet though so i'm not sure how i'll feel about it...but i still feel that they can always bring back the original cast for a 3rd installment...i mean theyre kinda doing that with the "Fast and Furious" franchise...why not this one? the straight to DVD thing really has nothing to do with it...i mean most of the people that would go watch it would be die hard fans of the original for the most part...there has to be at least ONE franchise that has done a straight to DVD installment and then a sequel to it in theatres...i mean not one that i have heard of but theres got to be at least one...hey maybe the writer had a blackout while thinking about making the second one and will decide to go back and change his mind about doing the second one the way he did and instead bring back the original cast to make the second...hell maybe they can just say they did that and make a part 3 and call it part 2 again...haha...yeah i know both movies had different writers and directors...but it wouldve been a good joke had they not...lol...and well all in all i would really still love to see a part 2(3)...they COULD do it without butchering the original actually...they just need to go the right direction with it...thats all...

sorry but there should not be 3rd installment . THE butterfly effect is not a sequel its an individual film for god sake. the butterfly effect 2 is not a movie in my eyes just a film someone wanted to make to get money.AND if there is a 3rd installment you expect the same person ,character to be in the movie come on....

Evan in the theatrical version didn't kill himself. In the Director's Cut there were added/extended scenes and a new ending, this is the ending where he kills himself.

Yeah, that's not a new ending. That's the original ending that they had to cut to make the movie more popcorn-friendly.
