In the first one, Evan retains the memories of all the new stuff he experiences (or is told) in each reality/life, but he DOESN'T know what happened between changing a childhood memory and waking up in the subsequent reality. For instance, he doesn't know he's in a fraternity or where the bathrooms are, is suprised to discover his mom in the hospital, never has any idea what Tommy's like etc. It's the exact same as this one; suddenly finds himself in different version of life, does NOT know what's going on or what has happened beforehand except for whatever memory/past moment he changed.
