was disappointed the main conflict was built around bad logic. The main character may have only had one copy of his game but he sure as heck would have the source code for his created game. Are we supposed to believe he only had a disc with one compiled copy and he simply decompiled the game from that copy any time he wanted to work on it, or that he had the decompiled source code along with the compiled source code on the same disc? That would mean he regularly deletes it from the computer he is using to program it on. Who would actually do that and why!? What irresponsible and time-wasting programmer would actually do that?

It wouldn't have even taken a technological consultant for this movie to have spotted such idiocy.

You must be... the guy made a good point in a message board made for this type of discussion. You are the one acting like a dick.

As for what the OP said, he's completely right. It makes no sense. Then again this movie is a big mess. Don't get me wrong, I love it. It is entertaining and hilarious, but as far as story structure goes, well... it doesn't in this film.

It doesn't really matter. The guy who stole it (JP) was a prodigy and one of the most famous game designers in the business. If Alex had some source code on his laptop no one would really care or believe it anyway.

This is something to suspend disbelief about, but I think it can be forgivin. I would rather see the Grandma kick the guys butt in the game than have the main character bring in the source code and have to see a bunch of code. Kind of like when you watch Hackers, if they showed you what hacking really looks like everyone would have fell asleep during the movie.

So true. When I saw it in theaters I was shocked how unrealistic it was at first. Then I thought about it for 15 seconds and realized the director made the right choice. As you said, it would have been really boring.
