Did Grandma's Boy hurt Linda Cardellini's career?
I am pretty sure that this movie is now consider a cult favorite, but before Grandma's Boy, Linda Cardellini had a shot of being nominated for Best Supporting Actress in Brokeback Mountain as Heath Ledger's jilted lover. Ever since that movie, she basically disappeared from relevanancy in the public while her "Freaks and Geeks" co-stars (with the exception of Busy Philipps) have enjoyed enmorous success (mostly working with Judd Apatow). While Linda got the short end of the stick.
I don't think anybody took her seriously as an actress after Grandma's Boy as she was just another face in the crowd. She never had real commerical success on her own (unless you count Scooby Doo), but she had critical acclaim for her performances for both movies (Brokeback Mountain) and TV ("Freaks and Geeks"). It's time for her to go Rocky Balboa and have that eye of the tiger again. She needs to step her game up to prove to the whole world that she is more than a two-hit wonder.
The animated show that she is involved, "The Goode Family", has been canceled due to low ratings so if I were Linda, I would call my agent to reunite me with Paul Feig to join the cast of "The Office". Certainly, she has the looks, the talent, and the comic timing to join the Dunder Mifflin gang. If she is sucessful than maybe she will come back to Judd Apatow and do a couple of films with him.
I hope Linda can bounce back and become the actress she once was ten years ago. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed :-)
