A LIGHT COMMENT

Are all romanian medical staff as beautiful as the dark haired medic girls seen here ? Romanian hospitals cant be all bad ;) Blimey !

As for the movie , I feel this film was way too long , extremely tedious and uninvolving - of course i felt huge sympathy for the character but his ordeal did not make for good cinema . Perhaps it would have been a subject better suited to a documentary , surely a better forum for a criticism of the romanian health service .

As ive said earlier i felt l'enfant and cache were better candidates to win the world cinema award too ..

I'm surprised that someone who liked Cache didn't like this movie.

I couldn't disagree more (except for the dark haired nurse). Too long and tedious? The film draws it's tension through it's length and it's depiction of a bureaucratic maze. Uninvolving? What would have made it more involving? Quicker camera shots? Some seedy intrigue? Come on... This is one of the most touching movies out there today... no buttery melodrama with layers of symphonic strings, just pure heart-felt sympathy for the last moments of an every day man. This isn't simply an attack on the romanian health care system, it's a very thoughtful and realistic look at how anyone of us can spend their last moments... and no, it's not very flattering...

I just love how such an unassuming and frank film could get so many people talking on this forum! :)
