Only two one liners in this? awesome.

Anyone else happy with the fact that it didn't get it's first one-liner until an hour and four minutes into the movie--"I saw movement/Everything is ****ing moving"? The other being "Let's get the **** out of here, hmm?" by Radha Mitchell.

The reason why I'm stoked by this is because I was really hoping it wouldn't devolve into camp after such a good beginning/start and it didn't. I really hate when movies that otherwise would be tense get ruined by the constant whippy patter of the too-cool-to-be-scared protagonist. Jeepers Creepers 1 was another one that I felt kept the suspense going from title to credits.

When we got that first one I was like,"No, don't ruin it." But then it turned back into tenseness again for nearly the rest of the movie.

Just my one cent since I can't afford two.

Spot on! And the delivery of both one-liners was great!

Though I wouldn't call it a one-liner I also really liked the line "Don't ask me why I can't leave without my wife and I won't ask you why you can."

Yeah, like you said that's not really a one-liner but it was a great line regardless.

It is much better when any humour arises from the character or the situation rather than being a glaringly tacked on 'funny line'. I laughed at the Sheriff's angry response to his wife's suggestion that they take another road, followed by her patient attempt to calm him down. It added another dimension to their relationship, beyond the 'perfect couple, perfect marriage' image that we'd been presented with.

Having said that, I think the filmmakers missed a perfect opportunity to get a laugh and increase tension in the scene when the old police cruiser is destroyed by the helicopter. The Deputy laughs and shakes his head at the absurdity of it, which is understandable, but the Sheriff reacts as if he'd done something weird. How much funnier, and sinister, would it have been if the Deputy had said something like "Man, we'd just washed that thing"? Just in character enough not to be too obvious, but still a bit off.
