Why?

I've read that he didn't want to leave any evidence or DNA behind, so that bag probably contained the tools, weapons, and his coveralls. But why not just leave all of that in the crawl space, rather than risk walking out of a bank with a huge duffel bag. I don't think that's a very "inconspicuous" look.

The diamonds he took were in a pouch small enough to fit in that safe-deposit box. In addition to the Nazi documents, I feel like that's all he really needed to walk out with.

any pedestrian out on the town, maybe about to travel, could have a duffel bag. You wouldn't leave it outside because you had to stop in a bank. It was a week later. You wouldn't think twice if you saw him.

I would've left it inside the crawl space, because Security might not let you walk out of a bank with a huge duffel bag or backpack without giving a look inside.

All I know, is that as much as I enjoy this movie, the one scene I simply cannot shake is when he's leaving the Vault with the Duffle bag while wearing dark sunglasses indoors no less and he passes someone as he heads upstairs, they look back at him and do nothing, NOTHING!! Didn't ask who the fuck he was walking out of the Vault with a duffle bag while wearing dark sunglasses would've been a red flag??

I agree. He looked suspicious as hell walking around with two big bags and wearing sunglasses indoors. Plus purposely bumping into Denzel hard on the way out.

I enjoyed the movie, but when he emerged from the Vault carrying a duffle bag while sporting dark sunglasses leaving the Vault and the woman walking passed him as he went upstairs and looked at him would've been the red flag right there because how many people who don't work for the bank just up & leave the Vault area with a duffle bag while wearing dark sunglasses and no one stops him and that was the part right there I facepalmed..
