Voice pattern

1. The police would have been recording all the calls in and out of the bank to the command center.

2. They would have a voice print of Dalton.

3. The police could then have all "perps/hostages" repeat a few key phrases for a "match".

4. This would have been strong evidence that they did not have Dalton...

This still raises the question (without tearing the place apart, during the following week) where did Dalton go?

reply

Good points. Most likely due to the case being closed(pressure from higher up and all) they didn't get a chance to do a thorough investigation. That being said if they did get that chance, I doubt they'd think he hid behind a wall.

Most likely they'd think he left through the sewer system.

At least, for the sake of the burden they carry, they could eliminate the possibility of anyone else using a phone from where they lived by telephone record (18 US Code 1029; 1030). The United States Postal Service would be satisfied about the compliance to law at least by their burden.

They as a group of organized members could also be linked by other criteria and attributes that forensics could use with their time.

Yeah I'm confused why they didn't at least try to find the known ring-leader, Dalton.

I agree. They know his voice. He should've been the easiest one to nail, and they never found him?

reply

They couldn't find him; he wasn't there.

They interviewed everybody. I'm sure they reviewed the voice samples before each person and were frustrated by not finding him. But they'd assume that he managed to crawl out through some sewer line or managed to slip out disguised as a SWAT guy or something. What he actually did would never occur to anybody.

reply

Yeah agree. They probably did think he dressed as SWAT while everyone else dressed as painters. That would make the most sense.

reply

Even if they went, "He's still in the building," they wouldn't go down to the floor plan level and figure it out.
