Would YOU have gone back for the baby?

I love this movie and it's prob my fav remake of any horror film. When my grandfather and I (who pretty much got me into horror movies) were watching it, he said that if it was him, he wouldn't have gone for the baby and just cut the losses and tried to get to safety with the rest of the family. And as cold as that sounds I kinda feel the same way. I realize it wouldn't be much of a movie if they just left, but in a real life situation would you go back for a baby (not even knowing if it was still alive)?

It is laughable how many have responded saying this is a crazy question, or 'do you have a kid?' etc. As if every person out there has a high set of morals. Sorry, I know plenty of crappy people (and some are parents) who wouldn't go back. I know one woman for instance who steals from her own daughter. Every time her daughter receives gift cards or cash for her birthday or whatever, this woman takes them from her own daughter. Totally selfish and always puts herself first, even ahead of her kids. I don't think for a minute that this woman would go back.

Beyond that, it is a legitimate self-preservation question. You can make the fair assumption that you probably won't survive if you go back. Doug somehow made it but it seemed highly unlikely he'd survive. So the question of 'would I go back' is absolutely legitimate and not crazy at all. I asked the same thing of myself at the time and I answered "probably not." That is selfish of me - obviously - but I was being honest with myself. I think it is crazy to assume that 'absolutely anyone would go back.' No, they would not.

That's a tough question. I mean, first off, the entire situation is totally insane. I guess if I was the dad, and if I was absolutely determined to get my kid back...than yeah, I probably would. But still, that's one scary situation to be in. I would definitely need a firearm. lol

That's what I loved about this movie. There was a real 'heroic' kind of theme on the dad's part at the end. That's something that you don't see in horror movies quite often.
