Harrison Ford snubbed at the Golden Globes 2014...
...what do you think?
shareDon't know but until I read the cast list I didn't even realize it was him playing the part.
shareYeah! The prosthetic make up on him was great also!
shareWell the Golden Globes are voted for the the Hollywood Foreign Press. Given that this film was barely released outside of the US due to it's subject matter its hardly surprising that this group probably didn't even bothered to watch this film. Outside of the US and Japan very few people are interested in baseball themed films.
And though the Hollywood Foreign Press are located in L.A. (I think) they probably have little to no interest in baseball, making this film somewhat unappealing to them in the first place. There are just too many films released know making it all but impossible to see everything.
According to Box Office Mojo the US take is $95,020,213. The foreign box office take is less then $3 million.
I haven't seen it precisely for that reason, though that's not to say that I haven't enjoyed films with baseball setting (The Pride of the Yankees, Bull Durham & Field of Dreams come to mind).
Ford might still sneak in with an Oscar nomination though the lack of a SAG nomination rather then a Globe nomination is more telling that this is unlikely.
I watched the movie 42 this afternoon and I didn't even realise it was him until I read this post. I feel kind of embarrassed. Great performance.

What are your favorites?
Its probably the least grouchy character he has played in years. I guess he was acting then!
Its that man again!!
I think this entire movie was overlooked. Harrison Ford could have easily been considered as he 'acted'/'performed' his character well. Many folks did not know it was him, and that is what acting is. I could easily put a few of the performances against '12 Years a Slave' and 'American Hustle' for sure. I am sure this was one of those films and performances just bubbling under the surface of nominations... and sadly missed out.
It's not my fault, I'll call you back.share
First, people don't seem to understand the true meaning of "snub". It's to disdainfully reject, often with the intent of insult. An actual snub in awards season is incredibly rare. Bear in mind that for some awards, such as the Oscars, there are hundreds of voters and they do not all gather together and discuss it and agree on who to reject. For all we know, he may have finished one vote shy of being nominated.
Also, Ford's chances might have been hurt a little by the earliness in the year of this film's release, as opposed to later, when folks are thinking about honors. I don't know if the studio sent "screeners" of 42 out to voters to remind them and make it available to the non-baseball fans who may have skipped it when it was released.
I have seen enough to know I have seen too much. -- ALOTOshare
I would have nominated him for a Oscar in the Best Supporting Actor category.
He was robbed in 1985 for the Best Actor Oscar!!!!
Probably deserved a few more nominations then just 1 if you think about it.
