Republicans work toward ending racism (Emancipation, Civil Rights Act, etc.) Democrats work on preserving it (Welfare, Affirmative Action, etc.)
You right-wing political propagandists swarming this web site are a dime a dozen with this nonsense; you guys have obviously been brainwashed by certain media streams and lack the education, critical thinking skills, and historical knowledge base to understand the fallacies that you're furthering.
I'll point out to you that the landmark 1964 Civil Rights Act, along with the landmark 1965 Voting Rights Act (since weakened by the conservative Supreme Court), emerged when the Democrats controlled the White House (Lyndon Johnson) and owned enormous majorities in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. To their credit, the Republican minorities helped the liberal Democrats overcome the resistance of the conservative southern Democrats (the 'Dixiecrats'), but the major inside-the-beltway thrust came from Democratic administrations (first Kennedy, then Johnson), with their Democratic allies in Congress. Due to their opposition to civil rights and racial equality, the disillusioned southern Democrats would increasingly turn to the Republican Party, whose presidential nominee in 1964, Barry Goldwater, had adamantly opposed the Civil Rights Act on the spurious grounds of 'states' rights.'
Please provide me with a list of initiatives that Republicans have taken to 'end racism' since that time. Really, the Republican Party has shown little interest in such issues since Reconstruction ended in 1876.
