THIS MOVIE IS AWSOME

This movie is awsome , Even if you dont like it, The sex scene makes it all worth it. IT IS SO HOT you have to see it , I think it has a good story line too
not a bad movie at all :)

I have to disagree, not just so this thread will have an opposing view, but because I sincerely think that the movie is s**t.

The acting is fair, except for Kristoffer Joner who tends to be excellent and is OK in this movie as well.

The storyline is obvious and WAY too short. 72 minutes, seriously... 72 minutes.

The sex scene is disgusting.

If you want to see a good Norwegian movie I'd try out any of these instead:

(Norwegian Titles - check imdb to find alternative titles)
Buddy
Johnny Vang
Himmelfall
Den Som Frykter Ulven
Uno

These aren't great either, but a 1000 times better than Naboer...

reply

None of those movies are good. If you wanna see good Norwegian movies, see Orions Belte, Dykket (The Dive), and Etter Rubicon.

reply

You forgot Dis.

reply

Yeah, just like if you do not like Rosemary's Baby, check out Police Academy? Or if you don't like Evil Dead, check out the Godfather?

Those movies you mention are good, but have nothing in common with Naboer except for the country of origin.

reply

72 minutes can be enough for a film. Why stretch it to the mandatory 90 minutes if in 72 minutes everything can be said?

And the sex scene needs to be disgusting.

reply

i always loved the fact that its "only" 72 minutes. many films are too long and shortfilms are too short. this is just perfect. and a very unusual time.

the sex scene is not disgusting but you are just way too sensitive.

and this movie is definitely not *beep*
dont comment on here or hang around this film if you dont like it anyway and are just a hater.

reply

The movie was reasonably well done. The sex scene was disturbing for anyone not attracted to raw, unrestrained S/M. That's why the movie is a horror film. Horror is supposed to be disturbing and designed to disgust and frighten.

I know this thread is long dead and gone, but my fave Norwegian movie is Hawaii Oslo. It has that Short Cuts / Magnolia thing to it, yet very very Norwegian, and the acting is flawless.

Apart from that, i happen to like Naboer. Sure, it has its flaws, but it's good enough for a watch - even a second watch - if you like the Lynch / Tsukamoto universes.

Agree

I liked it!!!

Short & Sweet

I would not mind a longer version, the good thing is that it cut down the chase, it gets to the point and the audience is left out with the classic remark: is this the end???

cheers to the film maker

The best films I have seen are Scandinavian. The Norwegian films I enjoyed were Buddy; Uno; and Hawaii, Oslo. This film, 'Next Door' sort of reminded me of a Danish film, 'Reconstruction', because it messes with your mind a bit.
Other great Scandinavian films are (that are widely available):
1. Brødre (Brothers)- Danish
2. Arven (The Inheritence)- Danish and Swedish
3. Hafid (The Sea)- Icelandic
4. 101 Reykjavik- Icelandic
5. Mávahlátur - eftir skáldsögu Kristínar Marju Baldursdóttur (Seagull's Laughter) - Icelandic
6. Ondskan (Evil)- Swedish
7. Insomnia- Swedish
8. Gamle mænd i nye biler (Old Men in New Cars)- Danish
9. Blinkende lygter (Flickering Lights)- Danish
10. Festen (Celebration)- Danish

reply

Insomnia has a Norwegian director and location. It's Norwegian.

I found out too late that the 2002 American movie was a remake. I should really start paying attention to the opening credits.
As far as Naboer is concerned- it's a very good movie. I rate it 7/10.

What is it with Nordic movies in general- Why are they so short? I've seen about twenty of them, mostly Norwegian, and all of them are less than 90 minutes long (Talvisota excluded).

reply

Brødre is a norwegian movie, not danish!

reply

Danish actors, Country: Denmark, Language: Danish. SO I guess, you're right, its norwegian

if you like violent sex & murder.

Sock it to me, sock it to me, sock it to me.

I can't believe "Brysomme mannen, Den" wasn't mentioned. This is one of the best movies ever made.
