It says on the trivia that Parker dropped out of this movie and was replaced by Kate.
I've never seen Parker in a role like this (if she plays a similiar role - write which one!!!) and I think she could have been pretty good and surprise us all.

nope. Kate Beckinsale nailed the role, and SJP i couldnt take seriously.
shareIt's easy enough to say, "NO WAY would Sarah Jessica Parker have been better in this role" because *gasp* we never SAW SJP in the role... had we seen her instead of Kate Beckinsale, there's no doubt in my mind I would have said Kate would not have been a better choice, and I'm guessing many others here who are down on SJP would be saying the very same thing... once you have a particular actor/actress ensconced in your mind in a role in a movie you liked, it's hard to imagine anyone else in that role... but actors/actresses can surprise you... those who are associated with one particular genre are seldom considered to be able to break out of the genre, yet they do it all the time... I give you: Tom Cruise, Sean Connery, Julia Roberts, Emma Thompson, Sandra Bullock, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Goldie Hawn, Dustin Hoffman, Robert de Niro, Charlize Theron, Kate Winslet... see where I'm going with this?

I can't see it. Beckinsale may be insanely gorgeous, but interestingly her looks don't undercut her strong performance. Usually, movies like this have fashion models who can't act in the lead role, but Becksinsale actually showed some acting chops here. Also, Beckinsale's age fits closer to the role. There's about an 8-year age gap and I think Parker might have looked to old for the part.
shareI think Sarah Jessica Parker could be good in a scary movie. She is a great screamer. In one scene from Sex and the City, she wakes up and there is a mouse in her hair, and the scream and the fear and terror in her eyes are very convincing. I would have liked to see her play this role, especially the part where they crawl in the tunnel and have to crawl with the mice.
