The definition of a Snuff Film:

A film made for entertainment that shows an actual murder of one of the performers, as at the end of a sadistic act.

It is an Urban Legend: http://www.snopes.com/horrors/madmen/snuff.asp

None of you have ever seen one. You may have seen people dying on film, but not a Snuff Film.

I'm pretty sure snuff movies do exist but I don't think it's as easy as most ppl would think to get a hold on one, since it's evidence to a crime and those ppl making such movies will sure prevent these evidences to be freely accessable on the internet.
I once read about one case of snuff-movie making in Italy. Victims where street kids mostly and they would only sent the tapes through mail.
Anyways I myself would never watch a real snuff movie. I love to play video-games such as Gears of War where you can 'kill' ppl with chainsaws and I watch horror movies on a regular base but I don't think I could handle watching a snuff movie.
I once tried to watch a beheading but as soon as they put the knife on the victims throat I had to turn it off.
So yeah I can only watch violence if I know it's fake.

Where is your Proof?

Actual "Snuff Films" do not exist. There has never been one to be found by any police agency throughout the world.

There is a website for people with your morbid curiosity. It features many horrible things such as 'emo girls' inflicting serious wounds on themselves and posting the pictures online to photographs of people who have died in tragic accidents. Some of the comments from the users on the website are pretty disgusting as well, although I hope they're just trolling. Back in 07 there was a man who hung himself on webcam whilst participating in a large chat session on a popular website... apparently people were egging him on as they thought it was just a hoax... then he actually did it. I won't be going back to that website any time soon. This stuff can really *beep* with your head. There are people out there who have seen terrible things and wish they could reverse it so I'd be careful what you wish for! I didn't go too far into that website but there were some pretty disturbing thread titles...

Honestly, no. It's one thing to watch someone get murdered in a movie or see somebody's guts in CSI, it's another thing to see the real deal.
I'm sure that at least 30% of Americans actually would since we're such a morbidly curious country (those pics of that olympic guy who died, and the video, people have been searching for that online).

You don't stumble across real snuff movies. Anyone who watches one, if they even do exist, has to have gone looking for it and that's sick.

Do any of you seriously think that evidence of a crime that can carry a life sentence or even the death penalty is going to be that easy to get hold of?

If such a market exists it would be a very lucrative and underground one and likely only available to those able to pay a lot of money.

And that means that anyone who willing watches or buys snuff films is increasing the demand for snuff films. The people who make and sell them do so to satisfy a demand for them.

I'll admit, the idea of them existing makes me as curious as anyone but I'd never support such evil, sadistic actions and that alone is the reason why I wouldn't watch even if the opportunity was presented to me.

I wouldn't want to see it. I know I would be curious, but my revulsion and the knowledge that I wouldn't get the images out of my head for the rest of my life would definitely get the better of me. I know myself well enough to be certain that I couldn't take it. I already can't take film violence too well, the only thing that makes it ok is that it's NOT real.

There was this video going around a couple of years back where some terrorist slices a hostage's head off in front of the camera. Even though I knew of the video I never watched it.

I've seen plenty of faux "snuff" films (someone mentioned guinea pig series earlier) and there are a ton of underground films centering around human torture (all fake of course). But none were as terrible as the real thing. Much like the Faces of Death, I've seen people "die", but only once have I seen someone brutally murdered on tape.

It was a viral video that sort of caught wind a few years ago (think; 2 girls 1 cup). My friends and I were getting a kick out of watching reaction videos on youtube, and we eventually googled some and found them. Then, eventually we found a reference to a video called, "3 guys 1 hammer". Thinking it was along the lines of 2G1CP, and 1 Guy 1 Jar, we searched it and found it in some forum and prepared to get grossed out.

Only, it wasn't. It was incredibly disturbing, and unlike the other videos where we laughed and covered our eyes in hysterics, everyone was completely silent when watching the video because it was REAL. It was footage taken from a trio of young killers (called the Dnepropetrovsk maniacs) who shot 7 mins worth of torturing a man with a powertool.

Not what I would recommend for ppl to watch for laughs, and I don't see how anyone would want to come back for more after one viewing. It stayed with me for days, and every once in a while I'm reminded of it and it is seriously depressing.

the movie Hostel, which was about a vacation spot where one could "pay" to torture and kill, was reportedly "inspired" by true events

I watched the Dnepropetrovsk video and it was pretty hard to watch because I read the man who was killed was on his way to visit his grandchild but instead ending up meeting up with the killers.

***** ** *****. I'm not going to say what the name is because I don't want people running out to rent this horrible spectacle, if it can still be rented, that is.

This video came out in, I believe, the 80's. It's a video of live animal and people, killings and death. Animals killing people, people killing animals, all caught on film with nothing faked.

I will say one thing...I will never forget those people in that restaurant killing that monkey so they could eat it's brains. NEVER. Will. Forget. It was the most horrible thing I've ever seen.

My brother rented it back in the 80's. I didn't know what he had rented. I thought it was fake, he knew it was real. He knew I loved animals so I have no idea why he rented it in the first place. I thought it was all fake until it was over and he told me it was real. I thought he was lying to me, but he wasn't. Every inch of that film was real.

I'd like to see every copy of that movie burned. I can only hope it's rotting away somewhere, never to see the light of day again.

That film is Faces Of Death and you can still buy it in a box set with the first 4 films at Amazon.com if anyone is wondering. Sorry dude, people have the right to view it if they want to.

reply

I've already seen people die and it's nothing I'm curious about seeing again, nor does it give me any kind of pleasure.

I am a policing student and I have viewed many videos involving suicide/death etc. One we watched pertaining to search and seizure and it's importance involved a guy smuggling a gun into a police station, and when he was left alone in the interrogation room, proceeded to shoot himself in the head. I have also seen many photo's taken at crime scenes that contain suicide victims, murder victims, and burn victims.
