The ending...

Just watched it on ABC Family. As an adult I have a high tolerance for holiday cheesiness, and as a fan of the Santa Clause series I really didn't mind the movie as a whole. The second movie will always be my favorite of the three, but this was decent for what it was.

But even I draw the line at "magic hugs."

It was one thing to include them as a cute, corny line here and there. But for Lucy to have to hug Jack Frost in order for him to unfreeze...really? A much more logical, and less eye-roll-inducing conclusion occurred to me when Mother Nature said that their power didn't work on other legendary figures. At the beginning of the movie they were ready to demote him...couldn't Mother Nature and the rest of the legendary figures have suspended Jack Frost so they in turn could use their power to unfreeze him? I would have preferred this to the original solution.

Yes, it is far too corny. I cannot even hope to imagine how the conclusion that this was the way to end the movie was arrived at. My girlfriend and I just watched it, and we both said "Are you serious?" at the same time when that occurred.

True.. it's a bit silly but only a small detail.
I do agree the 2nd film is the best once you get past the first 10 minutes.. i just love the evil toy santa.. his got some hilarious lines.

I didn't think part 3 was as bad as people make out. not as good as the others sure but it wasn't terrible in the slightest.. biggest problem was it Had bigger story and was the shortest length.

That's what I thought was going to happen. The second Mother Nature said that, I immediately thought that Santa was going to turn around and say something like, "Oh really? Well, in that case, I hereby strip Jack Frost of his legendary figure status!" At the beginning of the movie, Santa said that Jack could take over for a bit, but he would be suspended if anything went wrong. I thought that meant that Santa had the final say on whether Jack was suspended or not.

I know in this forum, it's been brought up a lot, but there is a jr. novelization of the movie out there and I think it handles the ending better. There's none of that magic hug crap and basically Jack gets banished to the south pole by the council for his actions and in the end he's talking to a bunch of penguins who don't appreciate his jokes. I like it a lot better personally (even though it's still kinda dorky, but let's face it, the whole movies pretty dorky ^_~)

Phew. Knowing how IMDB can be, I thought for sure people were going to blast me with, "It's a kids' movie! What did you expect?"

And Crimsongypsy, I like that ending much better too and wish they had put that one in the movie.
