UTTER GARBAGE-SHAMMA LAMMA DING DONG AS JESUS??

Terrible beyond words-just making up a story as it went along-was there even a script? But the worst part is the hubris of M Night-making himself Jesus? and his part was so big, it was very distracting. Shame on him. No wonder he is banished from Hollywood! I think After Earth was his swan song of awfulness...

and his part was so big

He's in like five scenes for about 15 mins of screentime, if that. You clearly haven't seen the movie and are just parroting off things you've heard other people say.

No wonder he is banished from Hollywood!

Nah, his TV show premiers this year, followed by a movie from the producers of Insidious and Whiplash.

reply

Wrong. I saw it and, like most who have seen it, think it's crap. He was in about 28 minutes which is co-starring.
I think you didn't see it since you don't know how much he was in!
Let's see how the new show does- I suspect, like everything after Unbreakable, they'll be disappointments.

Awesome to see these comments and laugh at how wrong they are. Successful TV Series? Check. Successful Parody "Found Footage" Film? Check (Did $100mil off a $6mil budget.) And now another film with GREAT Reviews and already predicted to do big numbers at the Box Office..... Night is back, deal with it.

He never WAS in Hollywood

THAT is why his movies are so brilliant

His movies have all been funded by studios so he was "in" Hollywood (hint-only indie films funded outside Hollywood are considered "out" of Hollywood).
If by brilliant, you mean "utter crap" then yes, I agree with you.

reply

That's like saying Kubrick was "Hollywood" because he worked under Warner Bros for most of his later career. Yet he was given full creative control over each and every film. Night has the same power. He does what he wants. He makes films in HIS Vision.

reply

Shame on him? What is your problem? You act like M. Night owes you something. Like if you didn't like the movie, he has betrayed you in some way. I'm so sick of people who are only interested in spewing hate instead of being positive on the message boards of movies they like.
I have no idea who you are or what you do with your life, but I think it's fair to say that you have no creative talent. Have you any idea how difficult it is to write a screenplay? Good or bad. Bashing something that someone else has done does not count as a contribution, it is the lowest form of participation.

Can't tell if he is talking of Jesus Christ or "Jesus I just made an ass of myself"

Besides, Night was playing part of Bob Dylan persona.

he owes us a good film if we spend money on it-what is your problem? You think a filmmaker is a god and above reproach? Remember, moron, if we accept crap movies all we will get is crap.
So, like normal people, we stay away from bad movies and make sure they bomb at the BO-like this one.
Its ok to raise a bar-you dont need to be some mindless sheep and see everything someone produces!!

reply

Look, dumdum-to portray yourself in your own film as a Jesus like character is hubris-the movie stank and failed miserably so that means most agree with me. I have written two screenplays and have a published novel. But that is irrelevant-this is a movie board to discuss the movies. I am just as qualified as anyone to discount his crap movie.
I like other movies hes made so Im not hater of him-I just call out utter shiet when I see it.
Now relax-are you blowing him or something? Why so adamant about defending his bad movies? Why don't you attack people bashing his good movies like Sixth Sense? or is some hipster crap to defend bad movies nowadays?

Clearly you have not seen the movie, or are at the very least, blatantly misrepresenting and taking HEAVY creative liberties with what was in the film in order to present such a mindless diatribe of insidious bile.

reply

ive seen it, stupid-why else would I comment on it? (Hint-only trolls use facile arguments like :"You haven't seen it" or "You don't understand it" when they have ZERO defense)
What liberties? He made himself into Christ (duh-one life to save the world) and dies like Christ...
You're using "insidious" wrong...

reply

First, it was not a facile argument, but an observation of what at best is ignorance, at worst is willful misrepresentation. He did not make himself Christ, and at no point can really be compared to Christ. You're reaching in an attempt to make it look worse than it is. In the story, he simply portrayed a philosophical writer who would write a book that would inspire a future leader, and bring about change. It in no way portrays him as a "Christ" figure, and your attempts to mislead people into believing the film makes such an assertion could in fact fall under the definition of insidious, though I will admit it was perhaps not the best word to describe it. Manipulative and egotistical both also describe your intention.

lies-his death for the world is exactly what Jesus did-are you talking about Jesus your gardener? do you not know anything about Christianity? It's all based on one death to save the world

It was utter crap-the lawn monsters were laughable
