Rediculous!!!

this movie is so sad. no movie should take you on a journey that leads where this movie takes us as viewers. granted not every movie can end happily, but this one definetly had plenty of potential to take us where we all wanted to be. I must admit i am being critical of this movie but only because i was waiting for an ending that would take me as a viewer to a place that would remind us that even after a challenging time in a relationship we can come out ok. The break up took us to the most devistating place any relationship could end, unfortunately for vince vaugh who can be a very versatile actor, this flick put him in a compromising position trying to balance comedy with drama, Jennifer aniston basically played here same old friends character "Rachel" who is always oblivious to anything but herself, i gave this movie a losing vote and hope to see a much better performances out of these two in the near future.

Don't most Romantic Comedies take you to a place where most people would want to be? Most rom-coms end up with the couple getting together despite the problems they've faced during the movie.

The Break Up doesn't. It ends in a romantic stand off. Isn't this how most/many relationships end?

I've been in a handful of relationships and many have ended the same way as The Break Up.

If I want to see a film where the couple ends up happy at the end, there are hundreds to choose from.

This film is refreshing because it bucks this trend and errs on the side of reality.

There is not much of a lesson to be learned in films that allow characters to be stupid, stubborn, jealous and resentful and yet end up happy at the end of a film. These films validate our inadequacies.

A film like The Breakup that delivers the consequences of our failures teaches me a lot. All is not well. Actions have irreversible consequences. Don't hold tight to your shortcomings and hope for the best. Realize and change them before it is too late.
