Was it intended to make audiences be on Brooke's side???

It seems to me that the writing and the movie was intended to make audiences to be on Brooke's side...OR MAYBE...that's just me because I like "Friends"...but honestly, Gary was incredibly annoying and a pain in the ass for Brooke, he was so immature and sloppy, at the end I didn't feel sorry for him that Brooke didn't love him anymore.

They were both wrong, that's the point of the film

Yes they were both wrong but I believe the film was trying to show the ultimate damage that Gary had done to the relationship because he was not only treating Brooke badly but everyone. He was at odds with his friends and his brother as well while Brooke basically got along with everyone other than Gary. I rewatched some of the film today and still didn't change my opinion that had Gary met Brooke even halfway before he broke her heart by not going to that concert (the last straw for her) then they would still be together.
