Brooke didn't love Gary

I think that's the point that a lot of people miss at the end of the movie. Gary told Brooke that he loved her and she told him "I don't feel the same way" so she didn't really love him.

A lot of people gave examples of why she didn't really love him because when he was beat up by her brother, instead of feeling bad she felt a bit happy. She also did a lot of cold hearten things like voting him out of the team that he loved and bringing in dates. I think she was simply obsessed with having him as her boyfriend because they had been together for so long, but I don't think she loved him at all. I thin she got used to him but doesn't mean she loves him.

Haven't u seen some shows? I know I hate the one I love, he's the one that doesn't care.

What? Are you talking about your boyfriend/husband? That makes no sense. If I hated my boyfriend, I sure as hell wouldn't be with him, let alone love him.

In the end, I agree. I think Brooke cared for Gary, but she couldn't see the like translating into love. She tried to keep him on his feet, and at the end of the day I think she realized that he was left walking on eggshells. It'd be too hard to imagine a sustainable relationship with fear of the partner's reaction.

I think the point was that after the breakup she tried and tried, and when he finally came around she was empty. She had nothing left to give.

Having been in an almost identical situation a few years ago, IMO she did once love him but by the end of the movie was so emotionally drained and they'd gone so far down the "break up road" it was eventually too late to turn back.

Life doesn't always have happy endings and though it doesn't feel like it at the time, sometimes it's better to leave behind the ones you love - and may continue to do so for a while afterwards - than waste your life together suffering constant stress and arguments.

She loved him, but at the end, so many mean and painful things happened, that, eventually, she felt disappointed, frustrated and hurt, and did not feel like dating him again.I think Brooke did not trust him, because maybe she tought, sooner or later,Gary would return back with his lifestyle,so hated by her..The guy was lazy, inmature..well,really she had reasons to complain...
So,i think she decided not to go back with him, because she could not feel the same thing for him, after so much pain.He treated her like *beep* and did not understand her feelings, instead,he made the things even worse..He was very selfish..True she acted wrong, bringing in dates and such, but he could not see she only wanted attention. If he was so blind and selfish to not see Brooke's intentions,is because he did not know her really,so he did not deserved it,and it is ok she rejected him at the end.I think she could not deal with the fact of dating the guy who had been so *beep* with her.Too many bad memories..

He left the freeway of love too many times and made too many pitstops of pain.

You IDIOT. BY THAT POINT she had stopped loving Gary- him standing her up was the final straw for her. I swear you people need to be hit by a cluex4 to ever get what's going on in a movie.

Whatever love she may have had for him disappeared during the coarse of the movie. True, Vince Vaughn's character was kind of an ass sometimes, but she wasn't exactly without faults. She was kind of a bitch.. she took great pride in bringing him down and she complained about every damn thing she could. Nobody likes a nagging woman..

And this doesn't even go into the kind of messed up things she started doing after they broke up. It was pretty clear she didn't care about him. Whatever little inkling she had of possibly staying with him was because of comfort than anything else.
