Too bad it didn't last

This show was positively brilliant! It was funny, dramatic, relatable, the ADULTS WERE ACTUALLY AS UNIQUE AS THE YOUNGER CHARACTERS... up until a couple episodes into the second season. From the very first episode of season 1, the show was attention grabbing and stayed interesting all the way through to the finale. The second season started off promising and overall had some good moments but by the end, it was no shocker that the show got cancelled. Saint was a decent character. She was good for Kim. BUT she just didn't fit into the show properly for some reason. Sugar went from being charming in an offbeat sort of way in the first season to proper annoying and just pathetic in the second season. With nowhere really left to go with the parental drama, they just became swingers... you've got to be kidding. Tom totally disappeared which was a shame because it would have been interesting to see his and Kim's friendship develop.

Unfortunately, it seems like what happened was the writers had a perfect plan (beginning, middle end) for season 1 and when they got renewed they were like "whoops... all out of ideas... let's see what happens as we go along".
