Why was he added into the cast?
JJ, Rossi, Prentiss, Reid, Garcia...plus Tara and Luke - isn't that enough?
Many shows have much larger casts, CM has a pretty good number of main characters now, they lost Hotch and Derek last year so they had to bring in a few new people.
OK, for 11 years they've always had the 7 - Tara was their "Blake/Kate" replacement and Luke was Morgan's replacement. Prentiss stepped in to take over for Hotchner. Point is, they don't need Walker. I understand they are trying to "build" with new faces, but after what happened with Hotch - we don't want more newbs we want the cast we know, at least I do. Tara and Luke aren't that likable to begin with. They are just making things more complicated than interesting.

Maybe one of the veteran members of the team is planning to leave this season and we don't know yet, maybe they brought Walker in to replace them, JJ, Garcia and Reid have been there since the beginning and may want to move on and Rossi is getting a bit old to be believable as an FBI agent. Ratings are down this season but tvbythenumbers says it's still nearly certain to be renewed.
I thought someone might be leaving, but "they" said no one is leaving the show, but like "they" would really tell us? I thought it could be Reid the one leaving. To be honest, none of them at this point seem like believable FBI Agents. I don't know if it's the writing, or that they've been doing this too long, but the show is tired. But, I think it will still be renewed.
