Jessica - did I read correctly?

She had a two day (or two procedure) abortion when she was six and a half months and her paw paw paid for it?

reply

That really bothered me. I had trouble caring about what happened to her after that, to be honest.

reply

Why? How does it affect you?

reply

Of course it does not personally affect me, as I do not know her. But someone who is okay with doing that, I have trouble being empathetic toward. As I said in another comment on this thread, I usually can relate on some level to the addicts, and are "pulling for them."

Maybe it's being judgmental of me to say, but if someone is going to wait until a baby is 6 months in the womb and fully formed to decide they want an abortion, they have crossed a line that I just can't relate to.

I have not walked in her shoes, I understand that, but my reaction was to not care anymore about whether she got her life together or not after I saw that she had a late-term abortion. I feel that if she wanted to "get rid of the baby" why not do it a lot sooner in the pregnancy?

reply

Would you rather have the baby be born to a drug addict? 

reply

I wonder what state she was in? I'm pretty sure that's illegal.

reply

She lived in Missouri. I'm pretty sure it's illegal now, but maybe it wasn't when she was 16?

reply

So I looked it up, Missouri has been in a battle from like 2000-2007 to ban partial birth. http://www.lifenews.com/2005/11/28/state-1299/

I can never get links to work on here, sorry if it's not clickable

IMDB can be a real pain in the rear when it comes to posting links lol. I'm not sure how old this episode is, but there was a doctor in Kansas who was one of the very few doctors that performed late term (partial birth?) abortions. This was up until 2009 when he was shot and killed while sitting inside the church he attended. (Dr. George Tiller). It's possible she lived close enough to the Kansas side to go to that clinic.

ETA - according to wiki, the clinic he worked in was only one of three in the nation that performed these. I think it's still open (located in Wichita, Kansas).

reply

Politics aside are you saying her abortion lasted TWO days? "two day abortion"
O_o

reply

Yes. It's called, "intact dilation and extraction (IDX)" and can take up to three days. You can google the procedure to read why it takes so long.

reply

Unless her life was in danger and the baby had some kind of fatal birth defect, there is no reason to do this procedure (MHO) because if she didn't want her baby and carried it this long, she might as well have gone to term and put it up for adoption.

If a mother's life is in danger and the baby has any chance of survival, do a c-section and send the baby to the NICU. Happens all the time.

reply

I totally agree. This is why I hated Jessica's junkie skank ass.

reply

You read it correctly. Geez, this dumb bitch pissed me off. Not only do late-term abortions not sit well with me, Jessica wasn't some scared or brutalized girl. She was just a dumb-bitch, knowingly delaying the inevitable because she was a freakin' slore. And Paw Paw was bizarre. The way he was so close with Jessica was very odd.

reply

Me too, generally I am sympathetic to some extent to the addicts on this show, but not this one. "Dumb bitch" is a good analogy.

reply

was her dad also the father of her unborn child? that could be a reason for such a late term abortion..

reply

The info said a boyfriend. She said in the interview the boyfriend had offered to pay it. I doubt that was a euphemism for her father. Just another dumb teen not thinking of consequences. I believe it was the boyfriend who got her on drugs initially. Some boyfriend in her teen years did. Not heroin yet, but others.
