help, please, with an episode

maybe a few seasons ago, there was a middle aged white mother with young adult children (oxymoron, anyone?) addicted to drugs. her children were extremely devoted to her, as she raised them lovingly throughout their childhood, only succumbing to addiction after they were old enough to live independently. her one daughter, on the show, bemoaned the fact that, in looking after her mother, it was as if their roles had been reversed, and the daughter worriedly doted on her mom. also, her son was a hothead who very much loved the mom who raised him, and who once even followed her, threatening to beat up the man with her, believing him to be her drug-enabling boyfriend. this episode in particular stayed with me, as I found myself actively rooting for this woman to get better and be reunited with the loving, caring family she was largely responsible for creating. anybody know the woman's name, and the season her episode appeared? any info appreciated. thanks much.
