As far as I know there are only 3 endings. One where he dies. Another where he lives and him and his wife hears their daughters voice on his recorder. And the 3rd where only he hears his daughters voice on the recorder but not his wife. If there is another one I haven't seen it.
shareOn the Blu-ray I own there are three endings: The actual ending to the movie where he dies and Samuel L. Jacksons character goes to his funeral and sees him in his car.
Then in the special features there are two alternate endings. Another one where he dies, and it ends with us seeing his agent receiving the book Mike wrote in the room. The second alternate ending he survives and he listens to the recorder hearing his daughters voice.
For some reason it doesn't include the US theatrical ending where both he and his wife hears the daughter.
I have seen the ending where Olin goes to Mike's funeral and I just saw the ending where he is rescued and survives and he and his wife hear the daughter. The wife is dumbfounded but Mike is nonplussed it seems.
That ending gives me the creeps. I mean I realize he did survive but now what? hearing the daughter means the room was really haunted and now he has to admit that.
But I agree why so many endings
I saw this when it came out along with many times on TV in the past, but this time it showed him and his wife alive and fine as they listen to the recording of the daughter's voice and I was like WTF just happened? I had no idea there was any ending other than the one with him dying and Sam Jackson talking to his wife at the funeral.
I'm one that always enjoys unhappy endings in horror films, but for this one I prefer the one where he actually lives. Him dying in the end always felt awful to me. It was cool to see that other ending so unexpectedly and after all these years.
I'll need to buy the Blu ray. I didn't know about the three endings.
I have seen at least 3 endings. the one where he does die and has a funeral. Olin goes to the funeral and when he gets in his car he sees Michael in the backseat. I hope it scared him to death.
Then the second one I saw he and the wife are packing and yu can hear his voice speaking, then you really see him talking to her about what is in the box. he starts the recorder and he and his wife hear the daughter. the wife is completely shocked and drops a box.
I can recall one in which he is the only one who hears the little girl on the tape and it basically makes him doubt his sanity. I didn't like that ending.
I just finished watching this & there's only 1 ending on my dvd,,it's where he's rescued & him & his wife both hear the daughter,,the special features aren't very special on the dvd I have. Guess I'll be buying it on Blu-ray :)

Ending #2 - Mike dies, the manager goes to his funeral, and we see a glimpse of Mike still trapped in the room with the voice of his daughter calling him
Ending #3 - After Mikes funeral, his publisher/agent receives the book he wrote
I have never seen the ending where Mike listens to the tape recorder withOUT his wife, does anybody know where I can find it? I have tried torrents but I think I need a PAL version.
