German Occult
Does anyone know if there are any documentaries films about the obsession the Germans had on the Occult? I'm curious at to what Occults they went looking for.
Btw I thought the film was great!

Yes, there are quite a few documentaries on this subject. Just do a search on "nazi occult" and you should see some titles. Himmler especially, was a major fanatic on the occult.
shareAs the previously replier replied, absolutely.
Hitler, along with several of his top aides including Himmler, Hess and Goebbels, were deeply interested in Germanic ancestry, particularly that of Aryan Gods they believed to have created their Master Race in the Austria-Germany regions of Europe.
(It's all very "Battlefield: Earth.")
Early in the history of the Third Reich, Hitler and co. spent a lot of UNOFFICIAL time and effort put into researching (or having others research) relics, languages, ideologies - ANYTHING that could be translated (no matter how loosely) into a symbol of Germany's superior importance in the world. There has even been mention of Himmler's personal castle being equipped with a Rune Alter: a large, circular table (not unlike the Knights of the Round Table) complete with daggers, nazi decor and ancient, mystic symbols.
The most of what I've read about The Runes is that, more or less, the nazis created them as a propaganda tool. (And when I say created, I mean designed, hand-carved, hand-painted, scuffed-up and then "hey, look what we found" kind of created.) Hitler was also known to personally employ a... well, kind of a historical psychic who regularly affirmed his importance and the Third Reich's eventual global domination, along with 'verifying' their roots to Master Race German God Ancestors. The moral of the story seems to be the age old lesson: don't believe your own *beep* (I hope he got his money back.)
There are a good number of books and documentaries about Hitler and the Reich's connection with the Occult. They're not as frequently found as your basic WW2/Nazi biographies, but they're definitely out there. "Hitler and the Occult" was pretty decent, I found that on DVD. Also, as of just a few weeks ago, Walmart was carrying... I don't remember the actual name, but it was kind of like HITLER'S GREATEST HITS on dvd - 5 disks about the S.S., the loss on the Russian front and a number of other things, including the Third Reich and their occult connection. The whole thing was like six bucks.
Just remember, any time you're interested in seriously learning about the German side of WW2, you should ALWAYS start with "Mein Kampf." (That would be Hitler's autobiography he wrote in prison, long before he was Chancellor.)
If you live in the US, then check the History Channel about every two hours.

That's too funny DrHerbertWest! I don't see it but more like once a week...but when it's Hitler Occult Week...it's on History, Discover, ID, and any other channels similar to these.
Yes, I have a stalker. Ignore him please. I've decided to do so.
PS, Don't forget one of the "greats' (sarcasm here) films that deals with Hilter & the Occcult called "HELLBOY" ;-P
Well, *beep* me gently with a chainsaw. Do I look like Mother Theresa?
