shareDoes Henry Cavill and Dominic Purcells characters live in the ending? I would really like To know?
shareThey live. However, something's wrong with Purcell's character. He's somehow evil and he goes back to the burned down farm and it ends. Hope that helps.
shareThank You Very Much!
shareHes not evil, not sure where you got that from. The brothers decided to kill the other 7 undead whatevers. While one loaded up on guns and food the other ( dom ) went to the stone to try and find a way to control/learn how to use it to distroy the undead ( fighting fire with fire ) then it ends as hes reading the words on the stone as the other brother is on hes way to pick him up. They were going undead hunting.
shareThough I like your assumption about the end better, I got the impression the brother in the truck was going alone.
shareYes, I think Evan is going alone (leaves his brother in peace with his family -remember he tells him while fighting with him in the begining that he has to take him to his kids) to hunt the other 7 whatever.
And Victor in the end is standing before the stone with absolute evilness in his eyes. I think his military background or something like that makes him feel that immortality is an ultimate weapon as he had encountered one the previous night. But ofcoarse after the books been burnt I have no idea how he is going to de-code it and carry out the ritual (may be he would get in touch with Dan Brown)
And also its a typical hollywood style open ending, which tells us that there is a sequel with more CGI.
Sequel : Evan goes and hunts the 7 whatever (with some outstanding graphics and stunts) just to return and confront his own brother. Something like that.
Also the sequel may give him a super-hero costume with a mask and a trick that allows him to slide his gun or knife at ease whenever he wants. A cowboy hat would be cool. Something like Solomon Kane.
And I also agree with the ending visioned by Dragonaut. Maybe, the 2 brother are together and the sequel would have some Kung-Fu too.
Overall I enjoyed this movie.

I disagree a little. For one thing, Dominic Purcell is a very good actor and it is hard to tell if he is looking evil or just looking. I've seen him a few movies and he is really good that way. I just thought when he was at the celebration that he has suffered PTSD and isolated himself. Not sure how he got there so fast from his home, but.... I think he just wanted to see the runestone, which by the way, the swastika has different names and is not meant as a sign of evil and was even used by the Kabbalist (?), the Hebrew/Jewish magicians/mystics.
After having been though something like that and destroyed something evil, he may have just wanted to see it and just looked ahead as in an uncertain future after knowing what he knows. I don't think it was necessarily evil, but it may have been. I just thought it was a look to let us guess at the end. To each their own, but I thought he was just wanting to see what it was all about. Nothing was done to him magically, that ceremony was interrupted when the girl rang the bell and Victor killed the guy himself. It is good to see people thinking and how all of you interpret the ending.
Man, I hope this does not turn into a sequel or trilogy or series. I thought the movie is good just left by itself. Very well acted and it actually had a plot and a good story line.
Definitely a refreshing change, from the high budget crap, we've seen so many times before. Creative with almost non-stop action.
If there is a sequel, Dominic will assist his bro.
The only part that I didn't like was the instant change from day to night, as the old truck approached the farm house, other than that perfect!
its not a mistake to think the brother might be possessed by the nazi. there is an evil roar of the nazi's voice echoing as the brother is staring, looking evil
we dont know what powers the 3rd eye granted the nazi...
plus the brother was distant at the party...
it could just be ambigous for its own sake.. but its just as relivant to see the ending as the nazi is still not dead in some fashion.
i like the whole 'keeping the creature at bay' but one thing i never understand in these kind of movies is
1) why didnt the guy just throw rocks at the windows. and if the magic keeps him from doing so.. then the movie did show te zombie minions could easily do it.
2) why not just set fire to the house and smoke them out?
again, if the magic prevents him from throwing a flaming piece of wood at the house (doubtful- he was able to run up and touch the door with the rune- he just couldnt enter) then again- if he cant just have a minion do it.. or hell.. for a fun visual.. set one of his own minions on fire and send it into the house.
he should have commanded the flaming horse zombie to set the house of fire.
im nit picking.. it was a fun moive :)
its just something i think about in things like the bufy the vampire series when the vamps would be on her lawn... or tales from the crypt demon night.. and now town creek >_>
To me I don't see the dominic cahracter as turning evil. There was nothing done to him to create this. From the party, it's clear he has PTSD (which was mentioned above). It's hard for him to just join into the human race w/o first coming to terms. So I think him seeing the stone was his way of trying to cope. He was prisoner for 2 years of painful hell & never knew what it was about nor did he ever see these stones. It's natural for him to NEED to see them.
Henry cavil did not tell his brother about the 7 other stones. He kept it to himself to give his brother peace & also to somehow redeem himself. It was his brother who went to war & his brother who henry could not save. He needs to do this on his own (at least in his own mind).
However, if there were a sequel (which I doubt there would be), I'm pretty sure dom would end up finding out & joining his brother.
Overall it was a fun movie. Different from other horror movies. Loved the cgi on the horse & when the michael pulled his face off. Really cool.

Yea his possible PTSD seems to be what they were trying to convey, but the ending is clear that itll be brother vs. brother.
Key points.
1. Evan felt uber remorse for his brother enlisting and not him then coming up missing.
2. Vic comes outta nowhere looking like death needing help to kill people and Evan goes along with little to no questions.
They apparently have a strong brotherly bond. Thus making a good movie story for two people how really care about each other but they are FORCED to end one another. It even MORE perfect because Vic cant use Evans blood. at all.

I assumed Victor snapped; he'd been on the verge for most of the film.
There is no indication Victor and Evan are working together after leaving the farm; Evan plans alone and leaves while Victor seems to be attempting to assimilate back into his family life. We're not given any reason to believe part of the plan is to use the runestones, so Victor showing up at the burnt farm where the threat has already been dealt with? Is creepy.
Why, on EVERY board for EVERY movie, there is always at least one person begging to hear the end of the movie? I admit, I've had things happen - dvd player went ka-put, or the power went out or something...but I'd always wait and watch...why does everyone want spoilers? Do you want to just sound like you know the movie instead of actually watching it?
I really don't get it.
