Is Dominion a remake of The Beginning?

I've seen Exorcist The Beginning but not Dominion:Prequel to the Exorcist. Is this a remake of The Beginning and/or the same movie? The only difference is a different white lady doctor? Don't be afraid to spoil it for me please answer? Because if the answer's yes then I'll forget about seeing this.

The Beginning can't be a remake of Dominion. The Beginning was made in 2004 and Dominion in 2005. If aything, it's the other way around..

The Dominion was made first but the studio did not like it, so hired a new director, Renny Harlin and reshot the entire film with most of the same cast. Renny Harlin's The Beginning was released first. The Dominion, although made first, was released later, which may account for IMDB's dates of 2004 and 2005.

That's what confused me! Apparently both films were made in 2004, but even though Dominion was made first , Beginning was released first.

Oh this is giving me a headach. DOMINION was the original prequel, filmed in late 2002 & early 2003, under the Title Exorcist The Beginning, When the Director showed his rough Cut to the Studio, they decided it wasn't scary enough, it wasn't a horror movie, yet it was exactly what they had greenlit.
The Director was Fired, They Spent a few months scratching there heads about what to do, finally they Hired a New Director, Wrote a New Script but with the same plot, recast some of the actors, and filmed it in Late 2003 & early 2004, it was meant to replace the first version, it was released in summer of 2004, It did not at all do the business that they had expected it to, Critics Hated it,it tanked.

They studio scratched their heads again, then decided since so many people were interested in seeing the original version, they would give it a DVD release, so they re-hired the original Director to finish the film, but they didn't give him Money to finish it, Basicly He had to do that himself, he had to re-use alot of the Music made for the other version, A composer friend of his made about 20 minutes of music as a favor to him, A group called Dog Fashion Disco did the last bit of music, again as a favor, His wife did The Voice of the Demon. The Result was a movie that is still only about 85% complete.
The studio was planning on a Dvd release, so that they could make back some of the money they had blown to make 2 films, but the Movie was shown at a film festival in Europe, It recieved very warm reactions, and was Considerd by Many to be a very superior film to What the studio had already released.
The Studio was Suprised by this, so they Decided they to give it a very limited theatrical release.
The Movie was Retittled "DOMINION:PREQUEL TO THE EXORCIST"
It was released the Day after STAR WARS EPISODE 3, it was shown in 3 states for 2 weeks, the only advertisment was a little tv spot, so Most people new nothing about it, and of course nobodey really went to see it, most people were going to see STAR WARS, and alot of people who did want to see it, did not get to because it was only showing in a few states.

The DVD was finally released in october of 2005.
The Movie has been bashed for not being scary or a Horror movie, and for having a few real crappy CGI FX, And being a very slow movie.
But what some idiots don't seem to Realize is that it is incomplete, the bad Fx in the Movie Were Still being put together when the plug was pulled, and No Money was given to properly finish them, So Yes the Movie Suffers Because The Studio Neglected it, And it's really not a horror Movie, It was originally intended to be a very subtle psychological film about Faith and Redemption, It was hoped that it would be Like an M Knight Shamylan film, but Of course the Studio realised that it has Exorcist in the Title so It needed to be very differnt than what they had just made.

However There is a Fan Cut in the Works at CaptainHowdey.com,
so that might be interesting.
