$2,000,000, for visual effects and post-production, is hardly anything by Hollywood standards. Post-production is a major endeavor even when one doesn't have to worry about major visual effects. If they only gave him $2,000,000 for all-inclusive post, including visual effects, it's no wonder the CGI is bad. In case you were wondering, good CGI doesn't come cheap.
