this movie is a joke

Thank god this bull didn't come out in theatres. It would have been the best comedy of 05, without intent. I only say the last 20 minutes of this and boy was I happy it was ONLY 20 minutes. The movie looks like it was made by somebodie's garbage man. Not a real movie, I mean seriously how could you make something like this and how much did it cost? Even the end credits are bootlegg, just a white screen with names rolling down and a rock and roll song? Lmao, what about creepy music? Is this Bill and Ted or the devil we are talking about? The cornyness of this film is unmatched, the guy at the end was NOT SCARY AT ALL. He looked like Ghandi, not a fierce demon. Then the special effects, ohhhhhhhhhhh no comment at all. There is also a scene where the tribe people are drinking blood, I've never seen faker blood in a movie my life. It looked like some thick ass strawberry jelly so are we supposed to be impressed? Even the set is awful. The last scene was shot in some kind of cave. Nothing in it but some skinny guy floating around, I prefered the church in the other movie. It upside down cross, the steps under the church, the statues all of that. What was that *beep* Something out of Harry Potter? This movie made the Beginning look CLASSIC! I give this film no stars, just laughter.

...given i don't like many of the "exorcist" films that much, you need to know something. This movie would have had all those graphics, effects, lighting, and other things that make it SEEM like its not a b-film; but the studio didnt send this film to be a blockbuster, it didn't get the treatment a film needs to be like that. They never even intended to release it; this was SUPPOSED to be "exorcist: the beggining" but the movie studio didnt think it was scary enough, so they had it redone. This movie was scrapped, if it had been given the full treatment it would have been visually (very) similar to "the beggining" although with more depth and meaning. I could see how at first glance this film would seem so bad, but you have to understand the story of what happened

"Well from what I can see you like complete crap anyway so who cares what you think. And you have G Unit in your name, so if you're referring to the rapper then I can only imagine the types of trash film you watch."

Sorry but that's a bit much, where you not insulting another movie on another board?

To be honest both versions are pretty bad but if the money spent on remaking this one was spent on finishing it, who knows?

All we have is a rush edited, half finished film, the performances are good but the soundtrack is often out of place and the special effects are basically place holders.

The story was really a reworking of "The Keep" which is a much more atmospheric film.

I think Blatty only says he likes this one to stick two fingers up at Morgan Creek after their losing half of his film "Legion" down the back of the sofa and making him re-cut it into the very flawed gem which is now called "Exorcist III" and then not paying him for using Merrin in this version.

It might be possible to edit both versions together with some other films and rescore it into a more watchable film but the story alone means it would never be a masterpiece.

It's odd that nobody seemed to learn the lessons from the "The Heretic" (half of which is also a prequel) Merrin wasn't the exorcist in "The Exorcist", Karras was.

The title was an ironic twist because when Merrin turns the audience is led to believe he will be the solution, the solution was Karras taking his faith into his own hands.

I hope Blatty finds the missing footage so we can see his film the way it was meant to be seen and I wish he would write one more film in the same vein and stay well away from Morgan Creek.
