Not great, but interesting (some spoilers)
This is a low-budget, independent film, so you have to take that into account right from the start. Some of it is unrealistic--- someone already mentioned the camping gear. Then there is the fact that they continue to drink beer from cans after they have been in the jungle for months. Then they meet the Colombian guerrillas, who kidnap people and hold them for years if they don't just kill them outright, and they make friends by flattering the leader? What?
But, if you put all that aside, you get some great views of places filmmakers rarely go-- Managua, Panama, the deserts of Bolivia, the Peruvian Andes, etc.
I have traveled in most of those places and have met people not all that different from some of the people depicted in this film. Some people do lose themselves for a while in travel and probably come out the better for it. The practical joke part was pretty funny, too.
