Why not sending the ship/bomb alone?

I mean, both missions almost fail because of human error (one did), I don't recall any "mistake" made by the computer or any problem caused by other than some of the crew members, there's even one time when the computer decides against the crew because they were jeopardizing the mission.

You even need less resources to make the ship if you don't send a crew (I think).

Anyone else thought about this?

Good movie. Watched for the second time today.

As always, a crew can adapt to problems much better than a computer. On such a mission, the risk is too big to leave things to a machine. Especially since it wasn't known human error doomed Icarus I.

That would make for a very boring movie, me thinks.
