Icarus (I) interior temperature?

When the Icarus II arrives at the location of Icarus (I), the shield of II is placed in front of the shield of I.
For years on end, the Sunlight has been illuminating the observation room unobstructed. The group entering I moves into the observation room and Searl (I believe) remarks how they would all die if the shield of II would not protect them.

Pardon my ignorance, but would that not have driven up the temperatures inside Icarus I tremendously? And if it would have indeed, how was Pinbacker able to survive?

My guess is that Pinbaker was alive and living comfortably for 7 years, with full life support and sun deflection equipment working as it was supposed to. When he saw Icarus 2 coming, he shut it all down to make it look abandoned and isolated.

Pinbacker probably accustomed himself to the heat and light of the Sun, by increasing the screen opening of the observation room little by little over time; he's had six or seven years to do that. I don't know if that's actually biologically possible, but it seems more or less what Searle was also doing on Icarus II at the start of the movie.

Either that, or Pinbacker is not real; maybe he is just a collective hallucination, a representation of the insecurities, fears and anxieties of the crew members of Icarus II; a mental demon inside Capa's and the others' heads.
