As I understood it, he didn't destroy the passage but simply disengaged one ship from the other. But yes, I agree he used that opening.
shareIt was rather vague but I assumed he blew out the hatch same as the other guys did. If he went along at the same time, though, they didn't show him, or the other guys somehow didn't notice or see him, so I'm guessing he did it on his own? I wasn't really sure about that.

He walked from the Icarus 1 to Icarus 2 before the hatch was blown. He blew the hatch once he was on-board Icarus 2.
shareYup. The others didn't have space suits on when they boarded Icarus I because they'd walked between the ships when they were docked together. He made that same walk and then blew the hatch, which is why the others had to find an alternative means back to the ship.
