Greatest film ever made.
Where to even begin with this? The music? The cinematography? The incredible emotion from every single actor in the film? The incredible beauty of the scenery? The overload of incredibly powerful scenes? The ultimate battle between science and god, relying on a few tiny human beings to accomplish something beyond our greatest comprehension?
Even the final sequence alone - Capa is locked in a room at the hands of Pinbacker. Pinbacker has sabotaged Icarus II the same way he sabotaged Icarus I, by sabotaging the mainframe. Power is down. The dying Mace (the alpha) is on the floor, on the commlink, telling Capa (the beta) that he has to find a way to manually send the payload into the sun, no matter what, as Pinbacker's sabotage has rendered the automated systems dead. "FIND A WAY." Capa uses the tools in the room to blow the airlock and literally remove all oxygen from the entire ship, blowing everything, dead bodies and all, out into space, just so he can get through the door. Then, when he's literally 4 minutes away from launching himself out the door and through space to hopefully be able to reach the payload, so he can manually release it into the sun... He falls over. He's trying in vain to get back up, through a flurry of tears and blood inside of his helmet... He knows if he can't, the entire planet... the entire solar system... will die. *beep*
