Do people in this board just not pay attention to foreshadowing?

It seems like the main complaint of this film is that it devolves into a slasher film that is seemingly out of place. One of the first scenes in the film, however, is that the sun was shown as having a psychological effect on people who watch it less filtered. It is essentially shown as being an addiction, with the psychiatrist being alluded to continually watch it (his skin becoming damaged), and the captain being in awe of it as he is dying. The way the film is set up, it was clear the main conflict of the film would come from these psychological effects yet it seems like tons of people in this forum were thrown off when it actually happened.
