Similar feeling when watching people make the wrong decision in a horror

(cont.)...film. When the audience wants to tell the characters that "duh, don't just choose to spend the night in a dilapidated cottage you came across in a deserted field". During this movie, you want to scream "Obviously, diverting the route to Icarus-1 before delivering the payload is not a good idea." But you just have to watch them take the wrong decision and predictably, everything that can go wrong does go wrong.

How is it not a good idea? They aren't 100% certain that the plan will work so surely 2 chances of saving the world is better than one.

The flaw in the physicist's (= Capa's) reasoning though was that you can't compare having two payloads to two independent coin tosses. Their actual choice was between focusing their time, attention and efforts on one mission which had been planned meticulously from A to Z, or dividing their time, attention and efforts between two identical missions that would (with a rather 100% certainty) both result in the same outcome (whether that'd be success or failure) - but they were all too blind to see it. (Mace didn't see the logical flaw either; he merely opposed to the change in plans because he kept a strong faith in/strong dedication to his original mission.)
