There were other ships dropping kids off on the same planet, so it wouldn't matter if a few never have children. Even if Caleb and Abby were the sole Adam and Eve on the planet but turned out gay, I'm sure they would eventually realise that they must mate regardless to keep the new human race going.

I'm getting this tiny little suspicion that the light-belching angels idea of earth-biology and how to handle it responsibly came from reading way too much about Noah and the Ark. Maybe they should have abducted a biology teacher first. Hopefully they'll be more careful when they pick their next species to play god with.
