I keep seeing threads about the racist nature of this film. People questioning why the movie ends with two white kids left to repopulate an entire planet. Didn't you guys watch the entire movie? Dozens alien ships (perhaps more) were seen leaving earth and landing on the other planet. They saved more children than just those two particular ones we saw in the movie.

It's almost certain they only saved the two white kids, because they're trying to depict the "new start" as Adam and Eve, and they were headed for the Tree of Knowledge (forbidden fruit) in the end.
Perhaps the mass ships were like Noah's Arc... They kids did bring two rabbits as well.

However, while I agree that their intention was to depict "a new start" for humanity, I highly doubt that they were asking us to believe that these two particular kids not only represent the diversity of humanity but are also responsible for the continuation of an entire species. My personal opinion is that the other ships we see are each carrying two children.

And the rascist thing is ridiculous! Of course the aliens could save 2 black kids too, and then what? Also save 2 black horses? 2 black rabbits? (I noticied the rabbits where white). etc etc.
I am sure evolution and circumstances will make enough colour differations in a few millions of years.

The selection of two white kids would be the right choice. If they are going to re-populate the earth there would be no point in taking Africans or Asians. Better genetic material is needed. It would have been racist and fundamentally unsound to have had Asian or African kids selected.

I can't believe the racist comments. But what's even more hypocritical are the racists themselves. Can't tell you how many times, how they "don't like minorities" - and i'll use the term loosely..
Yet.. when they see a pretty/beautiful one? They pursue that woman like they never heard of "Dave Duke".. Trust me.. There were hundreds of ships leaving Earth at the end of the movie. Are we to believe that each ship only carried one white boy and one white little girl? Are we to believe that ALL the saved humans were kids? The kid from the beginning grew up and knew where to be picked up, but she died. Also, the alien puts the sentence in the boy's mind, only the ones that heard the message can go. Does that mean only kids and/or adults? I would think there is way more diversity than what people picked up on. In my opinion, there are plenty of clues that say thousands of humans of all walks were saved by the aliens.
