The trailer quality at the new website is indeed the quality of the DVD. I'm no expert ( at all ) for filming but I was hoping it was just a poor final editing / digital conversion sort of thing. Even the audio on the DVD is fairly 'flat' and a little 'noisy'. I've ripped the entire film and even ripped the very ending in the absolute highest quality I could to get to extract the audio for the "Dream It Out Loud" song and it doesn't sound terrible but definitely a very noticeable lack of quality and fullness. This is also in comparison to some other rips I've done that have turned out much better and fairly close to the original DVDs.
It would be nice to know if the filming quality was poor or not. Give us an idea of a chance to make it up to par on today's DVD releases. The DVD also lacks any kind of bonus features ( commentary, interviews, deleted scenes, etc ). That's a hint it was created very quickly and as cheap as possible. Though... I don't know if it helps your assumption or not but the film on the DVD only takes up ~2/3 of the screen ( the rest is a black border ). I'm not talking widescreen either. I'm talking a ~1/3 border all the way around, not just filler on the top and bottom.
Another thing I'm curious about is if they will decide to edit the original film with the new title or just re-market and re-package it with "Dream It Out Loud" on the DVD sleeve, etc. Even the trailer on the new website is one of the originals with the Have Dreams, Will Travel title.
