For those who've never heard of 'arranged' marriages.

I saw this movie only yesterday.

Seeing the way Walter & Kitty's relationship progressed and where it finally reached, I couldn't help realise this is how Arranged marriages work in India.
The only difference would be that both the man & the woman enter the marriage knowing well that they shouldn't expect to like each other right away.

I'm neither for or against the Tradition. but it seems to be working.
Start with Commitment & let the Love grow :)

I have seen many marriages, that when they really work thru the hard times, come out the other side closer than ever.
Doesn't always work and isn't always possible, but there is something to be said for sticking it out, and working thru it.

I guess both, but I meant Arranged marriages :)

In America we have "marriages of convenience" that aren't officially arranged by matchmaker, but everybody knows they are not for reasons of love. Common scenarios include an unplanned pregnancy(or even just parents freaking out about the loss of a girl's virginity or reputation), a girl whose family has hit upon hard times marrying a rich, usually older man or a girl marrying to get away from home(as Kitty did). Some of these happened in my family, or to people I knew. They were people of an earlier generation. If you remember one of the plot elements in Titanic was Rose being betrothed to Billy Zane's character because her family had had a reversal of fortune and God forbid her or her mother should have to out and work. There weren't hat many jobs respectable ladies were eligible for. There was a lady at home(born 1907, now dead, of course) who did this. She had at least one torrid affair, when her husband was an electrician in the Army during World War II, yet. They stayed married, though. I'm sure he suspected. There's nothing new under the sun.
