Question: The Jazz Recording Played At Waddington's House?

Remember the visit to Waddington's (Toby Jones) residence and the jazz recording played in the background?

That's the same recording used as one of the bumpers for Turner Classic Movies!

๎™ Does anyone know the name & the artist of that recording???

๎€ฎ Celebrating 10 years of running amok on the IMDb! ๎Ÿ

I've been asking the same question. The same tune is also used in a nostalgic flashback in Oliver Stone's 'Nixon' flick.

I have listed thru hundreds of recordings of pre-1930 New Orleans jazz and blues. King Oliver, Sidney Bechet, Jelly Roll Morton, Buddy Bolden, Louis Armstrong....etc. But I cannot find that exact tune!

I'd love to know what it is, too! I just came here to see if anyone was talking about the TCM intros.

Great minds!

What fun to have my query be the top subject.

Shazam was no help, I have a lot of Bix Beiderbecke era music but don't know this particular piece.

An acquaintance asked a person who was creatively involved in making the TCM pop-up book film intro 'Let's Roll' video to help us out so we could find the music.

What he answered wasn't vary helpful. Maybe he feared the music -if located- would get used too much, rendering it less exclusive to TCM?

What he did say is the music came from a site which hosts 'open or public domain' and 'low royalty' music.

I've forgotten what my friend said but the TCM associate may have said the music we're trying to find was catalogued under New Orleans jazz, numbered instead of named.

A friend and I listened to at least 200 recording snippets over a few hours and couldn't find the clarinet heavy instrumental gem. (Which was also used by John Williams in Oliver Stone's movie "Nixon".)

I'm posting this in the hope somebody else will go on safari and post the kill here. ๐Ÿ˜‰

It's threads like this one that make me hate IMDb even more than I already do.

Dear people of this thread should you ever make your way here,
The song you are trying to find is called "Jelly's Blues" by Keith Nichols.
