Edward Norton was good but this role was written for Ralph Fiennes.
Can't you see him in this role?
shareCan't you see him in this role?
shareI could, but perhaps ten years ago, or better yet fifteen. A few years after the 1996 triumph The English Patient, wherein he could play the cuckolded husband the second time around and be even more believable than the fine, but American, Edward Norton.
shareNorton was good, but I can see why you wanted Fiennes for this movie.
shareI liked Norton's performance. I had only seen him in Primal Fear recently, a complete change of pace. He was terrific in that movie.
What difference does it make if Norton is American? God knows there are enough British actors over here playing Americans these days.
No, I disagree.
Norton was perfect in the role. The accent was good (I'm English) and the acting excellent). Fiennes in my opinion, is ever so slightly creepy and has a tendency to over act.
I don't think Fiennes overacts in anything other than in movies where overacting is called for. He would have made a wonderful Walter. But so did Edward Norton, and the movie would not even have been made without him.
shareneeded some british actors.
