I've seen this, but didn't know what I was watching...what is this?

I remember it being about some guy with girl problems, there was music...and then it turned into a video game every once in awhile when he had to fight one of her boyfriends or whatever.

I saw this in theaters when it first came out and looked to IMDB afterward, ready to soak in all the hate for such a nonsensical, wtf film...and to this day I still don't understand how people actually liked it.
I've always thought maybe I missed something going in...like its all an allegory about something else, or this is what it'd be like if you fleshed out the back-story of a video game character...something other than whatever this weirdness is.

Saw something about it today, figured I'd finally just ask...is this movie supposed to take place in real life? Why was he able to zap people with his guitar or whatever...is there some way any of that zanier stuff makes sense, some piece of the puzzle I've never known I was missing?

Lol this movie has baffled me for ten years now..I've never understood what it was I was watching...this is my all-time strangest experience with cinema...honestly unable to see what so many others have. Anyone insight would be appreciated...wtf is this movie?

So the film is nonsensical according to you.

Thanks for that info.

You bet your damn lifesavers, Martoto. You bet your damn lifesavers, glad I could help.

I like it just because of how weird it is. Plus I do like the concept of a guy having to fight a woman's evil ex boyfriends in order to date her. I know I'd probably just stay away from a woman if I had to fight her exes to be with her. But in a movie it works for me.

I just couldn't stand looking at Michael Cera for the whole movie. Dude looks like a 40 year old lesbian. He acted like an 11 year old. The movie was built like a video game and too glitzy for my taste.

Lol, good call. I enjoyed it though

I have to give credit to my wife for The 40 year old lesbian description.

LOL
So this man, it was also a little befuddling trying to reconcile how these attractive girls were that attracted to the guy, but yeah...good point.

It’s another awesome Edgar film. Sad it gets so much hate. Like a live video game.

reply

Well I didn't hate it...it was a good looking movie, just went over my head I guess...has felt like I've just been missing a key bit of information that'd make it all fall into place. Which...definitely not a bad movie, just frucken hard to wrap your head around.

Must be really hard going through life being this clueless.

What is the ‘clue’ he’s missing?
