Doesn't look like him
Marky Mark doesn't look like Vince did at all. Not one bit! Plus Vince was not muscular - and WR's didn't have huge biceps back in the 70s or even 80s...
Picture Al Pacino from Scarface - that hairstyle and bushier eyebrows. That was Vince back in the 70's.
The team tryouts looked pretty silly. Fat guys trying to make the team? Was this the Tampa Bay Bucs? And was the fan base really that excited? (see the scene before tryouts with the announcer - the fenced fans act similar to the Jets fans of today) Highly doubtful. The event probably wasn't even that hyped up.
Later Marky Mark talks of facing the Cowboys with Roger Staubach, Ed Jones and - - Randy White? White was an unknown 2nd year player in 1976 and didn't even start.
Bald guys on the Eagles - bald wasn't in fashion back then. The Raider's Otis Sistrunk was bald. That was about it. Credit goes to those cool Eagle uniforms and correct facemasks for the times. And the Cowboys with their red stripe!
Would've been great to see Marky Mark pull out a crappy Giants shirt from that 70s Sears wishbook. You know - either the white one with the colored long sleeves or the goofy iron on number in front that says Giants above it. The merchandise wasn't that nice back then.
Why all the fan talk of the Eagles 48' title? They later won it in 1960 behind Norm Van Brocklin.
The gold hue got annoying. Way overkill to try and color the times this way. If our TV's got out of color like this we'd have stood up and walked over to move the rabbit ears, put tin foil on them, or turned the dial to get the hue correct.
I thought I would like this movie but while watching it on TV I am a little disappointed so far. No one seems to get movie-documentaries right... Especially these days. (Yeah let's all guess on the actual dialogue and add in some false nonsense.)
Maybe they'll do a movie on Tim Mazetti next. I seem to remember that the 80's had a nice fuscha hue to them....
